Forecaster weathers breast brouhaha
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - A television station apologized to viewers after an Internet video showed a longtime weather anchor clowning around in front of a computer graphic of a woman's breast.
WBKO-TV said on its Web site that it has reprimanded weather anchor Chris Allen for "acting in a juvenile and unprofessional manner." Rick McCue, station vice president and general manager, said Allen remains an employee.
The tape was from years earlier, never aired on television and was stolen by a former employee, who posted it on the Internet, according to the station, which did not name the former employee.
The video appeared on blogs and other Web sites, showing Allen to the left of a giant computer graphic of a woman's body in profile, under the text "Breast Milk Donors." A grinning Allen appears to lick the nipple and squeeze the breast while making honking noises, whistling and laughing.
WBKO's statement included an apology from Allen:
"This video — which was never intended to be seen outside of the station — was part of a joke that was played on me during a lighter moment off the air several years ago. I regret that a former employee has decided it is something that everyone should see and took the liberty of posting it on the Internet," Allen said. "I am embarrassed by the whole ordeal and humbly apologize for anyone offended by my actions."
A message left for Allen at WBKO-TV by The Associated Press on Thursday was not immediately returned. Allen was away attending a training session in Wisconsin, McCue said.
The station considers the tape copyrighted material and is trying to have the video removed from various sites, McCue said.

Clinton campaign insulted by cleavage article
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Insulted by a fashion article about Hillary Clinton's cleavage, her presidential campaign is trying to use the incident to raise money.
A fund-raising e-mail letter signed by Ann Lewis, a senior Clinton adviser, urges potential donors to "take a stand against this kind of coarseness and pettiness in American culture."
The Washington Post on July 20 published an article by its fashion writer, Robin Givhan, that noted Clinton wore a black top with a low neckline during an appearance on the Senate floor to talk about the high cost of college education.
"It was startling to see that small acknowledgment of sexuality and femininity peeking out of the conservative -- aesthetically speaking -- environment of Congress," Givhan wrote.
Lewis wrote: "Would you believe that The Washington Post wrote a 746-word article on Hillary's cleavage?"
She said it was inappropriate for the news media to be "talking about body parts" and that the 2008 presidential campaign should be focused on the issues.
"Frankly, focusing on women's bodies instead of their ideas is insulting. It's insulting to every woman who has ever tried to be taken seriously in a business meeting. It's insulting to our daughters -- and our sons -- who are constantly pressured by the media to grow up too fast," Lewis said.

Police hunt breast enlargement cheats
BERLIN (Reuters) - A German plastic surgeon who was cheated out of payment by several women has given pictures of their enlarged breasts to police, in the hope the photos will help trace them.
"The women registered under fake names," Michael Koenig, a surgeon in Cologne, told Bild newspaper. "After the operations, which lasted about an hour, they just ran away."
"Tanja" went out for "fresh air" after 8,000-euro ($10,000) surgery to enlarge her breasts. "She never came back and never paid," Koenig said. He now plans to demand payment in advance.
Bild published a five-column picture of Tanja's naked breasts. "It's probably the most unusual wanted poster police ever had," the newspaper wrote.

Forget airbags, silicone breasts will do
SOFIA (AFP) - A woman in the northern Bulgarian town of Ruse survived a car crash thanks to her silicone breasts which acted as an airbag, a newspaper has reported.
The 24-year-old ran through a red light and crashed her car into another vehicle at a busy crossroad in the middle of town Saturday, the daily Standart said.
"The two cars were crumpled past recognition in the crash but the woman's silicone breasts acted as airbags and saved her life," Standart wrote, citing eyewitness reports.
But survival as well as beauty comes at a price as the woman burst her silicon implants in the crash.

Warsaw mermaid's chest covered for Miss World
WARSAW (Reuters) - Warsaw's symbol, a half naked mermaid, will have her chest covered on a poster promoting the Miss World competition after the original version was judged too erotic.
"The way the artist drew it first, one of her breasts was covered and one wasn't," said Tadeusz Deszkiewicz, director of Warsaw's promotion bureau. "The combination was very erotic."
The artist redrew the poster to include a sash over the mermaid's exposed breast. The Miss World pageant will be held in Warsaw on September 30.
The mermaid, central to Warsaw's founding legend, is depicted in two statues in the capital and appears on the city's crest as naked from the waist up.

Breast isn't best: readers tell US parenting magazine
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Readers of a US parenting magazine are crying foul over the publication's latest cover depicting a woman breastfeeding, with some calling the photo offensive and disgusting."I was SHOCKED to see a giant breast on the cover of your magazine," one woman from Kansas wrote in reaction to the picture in Babytalk, a free magazine that caters to young mothers. "I was offended and it made my husband very uncomfortable when I left the magazine on the coffee table."
Her reaction was part of some 5,000 letters the magazine has received in response to a poll to gage reader sentiment about Babytalk's August cover photo, which shows a baby nursing.
Several readers said they were "embarrassed" or "offended" by the Babytalk photo and one woman from Nevada said she "immediately turned the magazine face down" when she saw the photo.
"Gross, I am sick of seeing a baby attached to a boob," the mother of a four-month-old said.
Another reader said she was "horrified" when she received the magazine and hoped that her husband hadn't laid eyes on it.
"I had to rip off the cover since I didn't want it laying around the house," she said.
A national television program also ran a segment on the controversy, interviewing several people in New York who expressed disgust over the cover photo.
The picture in Babytalk was aimed at illustrating the controversy surrounding breastfeeding in the United States, where a national survey by the American Dietetic Association found that 57 percent of those polled are opposed to women breastfeeding in public and 72 percent think it is inappropriate to show a woman breastfeeding on television programs.
Babytalk executive editor Lisa Moran said though most of those who responded to the poll about the cover photo gave the magazine a thumbs up, she was surprised that some 25 percent expressed outrage.
"There is a real puritanical streak in America," Moran told AFP. "You see celebrities practically baring their breasts all the time and no one seems to mind in this sort of sexual context.
"But in this very natural context of feeding your child, a lot of Americans are very uncomfortable with it."
She said the controversy is all the more surprising in light of concerted efforts by the US government and health professionals to encourage women to breastfeed.
"Everyone is saying that breastfeeding is best for baby but there is so little support for it in public," Moran said.
She said the Babytalk cover photo marks the first time a major parenting magazine in the United States dares to break the taboo about showing a woman's breast and the outrage it has prompted is not about to discourage editors from doing it again.
"This hasn't scared us off at all," Moran said. "We're thrilled and hopefully this will help women get more support for nursing."

Cops Say Woman Charged Surgery to Bosses
LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. - A woman stole her employer's credit cards and identity to steal more than $12,000, some of which went for breast enlargement surgery, police allege.
Jerri Ann Cozza, 35, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on Monday for investigation of 27 counts of first-degree identity theft, 26 counts of forgery and three counts of second-degree theft.
While working for Liberty Lake Medical Supply last year, Cozza stole her boss's identity, money, credit cards and a payroll check, court documents allege.
Cozza misappropriated $12,734 for breast implants, repairs to her Dodge Durango, new furniture, telephone bills and a variety of other purchases, Liberty Lake police Officer Erin Lance alleged in a report.
Cozza's surgery occurred about the time Christy and Daniel Chamberlain, owners of the medical supply company, noticed office supplies and petty cash were disappearing, Lance wrote.
One of the Chamberlains' credit cards to charge $5,136 worth of breast implant surgery. The total came to $8,433 because 19.9 percent interest was added to the unpaid balance, Lance reported.
Cozza told Christy Chamberlain the breast surgery was being covered by insurance because one of her breasts had to be removed because of cancer, the police report said. But the Chamberlains later discovered there was nothing medically wrong with Cozza's breasts and the surgery was for cosmetic implants.
Unaware they had paid for Cozza's surgery, the Chamberlains went to her home on Dec. 15 to fire her for the other alleged thefts. They sat on new furniture bought with one of their credit cards, according to Lance's report.
Two weeks later, someone using Cozza's address applied for credit cards under Christy Chamberlain's name, court records indicate.

Phony doctor gives free breast exams
MIAMI (Reuters) - A 76-year-old man claiming to be a doctor went door-to-door in a Florida neighborhood offering free breast exams, and was charged with sexually assaulting two women who accepted the offer, police said on Thursday.One woman became suspicious after the man asked her to remove all her clothes and began conducting a purported genital exam without donning rubber gloves, investigators said.
The woman then phoned the Broward County Sheriff's Office and the suspect fled. He was arrested at another woman's apartment in the same Lauderdale Lakes neighborhood on Wednesday, a sheriff's spokesman said.
The white-haired suspect, Philip Winikoff, carried a black bag and claimed to be visiting on behalf of a local hospital.
"He told the woman that he was in the neighborhood offering free breast exams," sheriff's spokesman Hugh Graf said in a statement.
At least two women, both in their 30s, let him into their homes and he fondled and sexually assaulted them, the investigators said.
Winikoff was not a doctor, Graf said. He worked as a shuttle driver for an auto dealership.
