Meth deposited in ATM, woman jailed
BREMERTON, Wash. - Credit unions accept deposits — just not of methamphetamine. A woman who allegedly dropped an envelope containing money and a bag of meth at a Kitsap Credit Union was arrested and charged with drug possession, according to court documents.
A bank employee reported the deposit to police, who contacted the 18-year-old customer. Officers said she might have mistakenly included the bag when she got money out of her pocket for the deposit.

Chicago suit charges 'negligent dancing'
CHICAGO - A woman is suing her dance partner, claiming he dropped her on her head after flipping her into the air at an office party.
Lacey Hindman, 22, was a victim of "negligent dancing," says her lawyer, David M. Baum.
In the suit, Hindman claims that during a party at a Chicago bar and restaurant in April 2006, David Prange grabbed her by the forearms and tossed her in the air, and then she crashed to the wood floor.
"I was in the air, over him," Hindman said. "I fell hard enough you could hear the impact of me hitting the floor over the sound from the jukebox."
Hindman said in the suit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, that she suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries. She is seeking damages for medical bills and lost wages for time missed from work.
Hindman worked for Prange's wife, Kate Prange, at Shop Girl, a women's boutique.
There was no immediate response to a call seeking comment from David Prange on Tuesday.

Text messages land teacher in hot water
MURRAY, Ky. - A middle school teacher trying to buy pot was arrested after she sent text messages to state trooper instead of a dealer, police said.
Trooper Trevor Pervine was at dinner with his wife and parents celebrating a birthday when his phone started buzzing with messages about a marijuana purchase.
At first, Pervine thought the messages were from friends playing a joke, Kentucky State Police spokesman Barry Meadows said. But a couple of phone calls put that idea to rest, and Pervine responded to set up a meeting, Meadows said.
Authorities say Ann Greenfield, 34, arrived at the meeting point and found Pervine and other law enforcement officers waiting for her.
"She learned her lesson. Program your dealers into your phone," Meadows said.
Greenfield, a teacher at Murray Middle School, was charged with conspiracy to traffic in controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, Meadows said.
She was suspended with pay pending results of an investigation, the Murray Independent School District said in a statement posted Friday on the district's Web site. A message seeking comment left at a listing for an Ann Greenfield in Murray, Ky. was not returned.

Traffic Wreck, Gas Leak Lead to Pot Bust
TUCKER, Ga. - A strange chain of events that began with a traffic accident and a gas leak ended this week with the discovery of nearly $900,000 worth of marijuana growing in a suburban apartment.
It began when a drunken driver crashed into an apartment building Sunday morning, said Officer Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. The collision ruptured a gas line, prompting firefighters to respond to check for leaks. While checking inside one of the units, they found an indoor pot growing operation, Moloney said.
Firefighters called the Gwinnett County Drug Task Force.
A sweep of the apartment netted 182 plants still in pots in three separate areas of the unit. The estimated street value of the 3,121 ounces of marijuana seized is $884,892.
The resident, 50-year-old Rickey Baker, was jailed on one charge of trafficking in marijuana and was released Monday on $22,100 bond, according to jail records.
