Call police if offered women's undies

RALEIGH, N.C. - If someone offers you frilly women's lingerie on the street, call police. Thieves have stolen almost $35,000 worth of underwear, perfume and other merchandise from Victoria's Secret stores in the Raleigh area since March, police said. Law enforcement officials have no suspects and said it's unlikely the thieves are stealing for personal use.

A store in the Triangle Town Center in Raleigh reported nearly $20,000 in missing merchandise between March and June, while stores in Durham and Cary reported losses of almost $13,000 and $4,000, respectively.

The thieves seem to work in groups of three, with one person distracting a store clerk while the other two stuff bags with bras, underwear and other items, police said.

Victoria's Secret is owned by Columbus-based Limited Brands Inc.

Ky. man accused of stealing lingerie

HEBRON, Ky. - A warehouse worker has been accused of pilfering high-end lingerie worth nearly $15,000 after his ex-girlfriend snitched on him, a newspaper reported.

Investigators say a manager stole Victoria's Secret lingerie from a warehouse where he worked near Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, the Kentucky Enquirer reported.

Christopher L. Perry, 24, of Villa Hills, Ky., has not been seen since he was charged with one count of receiving stolen property, authorities said. He did not return to work and his phone has been disconnected.

His estranged girlfriend, Elizabeth Gibbs, called police Jan. 31 to report that Perry was lifting lingerie from Advanced Distributions Services in Hebron, court records show.

She led detectives to a hotel room where the lingerie was stashed, the records show. The merchandise, now sitting in a police evidence locker, was of almost every style and size carried by the store.

"We believe he was just approaching people on the street" to sell the items, Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders said. "These are the kind of cases that keep this job amusing."
